“With this project, I didn't just design a logo; I created a visual legacy that celebrates diversity and unity.”

When Councilman Manny Pelaez envisioned designating a vibrant stretch of Wurzbach Road as the Silk Road Cultural Heritage District, he knew it needed a visual identity as dynamic as the community it represented. Tasked with creating that brand, I dove into a project that would celebrate the cultural richness of San Antonio’s Asian and Middle Eastern communities.

As the lead designer, I had the creative freedom to shape a brand from scratch, and I embraced the challenge wholeheartedly. I crafted a logo that encapsulated the essence of the Silk Road, symbolizing the unity of diverse cultures. This logo became more than just an image; it was a symbol of pride for local businesses and residents, featured on street banners, window clings, stickers, and even a special Fiesta medal.

In collaboration with city officials and community stakeholders, I ensured the design resonated with everyone involved. Despite the project's tight timeline, the final branding left a lasting impression. It not only gained swift approval but also set a new standard for how cultural heritage districts could be visually represented across the city.

The Silk Road Cultural Heritage District branding is more than just a testament to design; it is a celebration of cultural heritage, community spirit, and the power of visual storytelling.
